A charming early 19thC English/Welsh antique birdcage Candlestick.
Designed to prevent fires in stables if the candlestick were knocked over.
With a cage formed from six steel bars with a rise-and-fall sconce that is held in place under tension. With a shaped carry handle and supported overall on a turned oak base.
Provenance - Unknown
Condition - As per the images. Surface wear to the metal and base commensurate with age. The base has an age-related split but is stable. This does not detract from the stick and it displays well. A further detailed condition report is available upon request.
