A fine early 18th Century German antique tin-glazed tankard, circa 1720-30, with manganese ground, the central cartouche decorated in underglaze blue on a white ground revealing a naive stylised bird with foliage and flowers.
Attributed to Cornelius Funcke of Berlin (Fl. 1720-30)*
With original pewter fixings including the lid and foot.
Condition - very minor fritting to the top rim of the tankard where it meets the lid and at the handle too. Please refer to the images. A further condition report is available upon request.
All in all a charming period item and a piece of 18th Century history.
